Catalogue, transcribe and preserve medieval manuscripts and historical documents. Without the jargon.

Your records

Create a record, choose the document model, add fields the model does not provide for, and keep everything in order across folders and archives.

Transcribing

The document on one side, the text on the other, one transcription per folio or PDF page. Manuscripts imported via IIIF, contrast and negative for difficult hands, OCR and searchable PDFs for later scripts.

Finding everything again

Search inside metadata and transcriptions, tags, controlled vocabularies, sortable historical dates, combinable filters and saved searches.

Taking your work out

Printing and PDF in three layouts, CSV export, transcriptions in HTML, Markdown and RTF, citations for Zotero and LaTeX.

Working as a team

Shared archive with revocable invitations, content encrypted so the server cannot read it, instant notifications and conflicts resolved field by field. Everyone keeps a complete copy.

Losing nothing

Undo and redo, trash, automatic snapshots, a history for every record. And your data in readable files on your own disk.

What ArchiView is

ArchiView is a Windows program you install on your own computer, designed for people who work with manuscripts and archival documents: notarial imbreviature, judicial acts, tax registers, private papers.

It works offline: your data stays on your disk, in readable files, and nobody sees it unless you decide to share it. Connecting to a common archive for teamwork is possible, but it is a choice, not a requirement.
